Yesterday is past and gone
Persevere and carry on
Many choices lie ahead
On the future path we tread
But the past can interfere
With the way we go from here
All the hate, the hurt, the stress
All those things which cause duress
Re-emerge and drag us down
In remembered pain we drown
But, do not let it make us blind
To the good that we may find
Though the pain won’t go away
It mustn’t dominate today
Love and hope must not be missed
Hard to find, they do exist
Fabricated from the dust
Difficult to build is trust
Yesterday is gone, is past
How long will its effects last?
Will they slowly fade away
Like the sun at close of day
